3D shapes
3D shapes are an essential resource to teach children. It’s much better than looking at images of 3D shapes as they need to be able to feel the faces, edges and vertices. It also gives you opportunities to play fun games such as memory games (put all the shapes on a tray, get children to close their eyes and then take one away. Can they see which one is missing), and ‘feely bag’ games. This is where you put all the shapes in an opaque bag and a child chooses one and feels it with a blindfold on. Can they describe the properties of the shape and guess what it is? You can also play a game where you reveal a very small part of the 3D shape and everyone has to guess what it might be.
