Dyslexia Assessment

A diagnostic dyslexia assessment gives you a really thorough picture of how your child learns, including their strengths as well as the areas where a little extra support could make a big difference.

What is involved in the assessment?

During the assessment, I look at a range of cognitive skills alongside literacy attainment. Before we begin, I gather detailed background information so I can build the fullest possible understanding of your child as a learner.

The assessment usually takes between 3 and 5 hours and can be spread across two sessions if that works better for your child.

Within three weeks, I’ll send you a detailed written report with all the findings and recommendations tailored specifically to your child.

After that, we’ll meet for a 60-minute feedback appointment to go through everything together, answer your questions and talk through the next steps.

I am a qualified Level 7 Dyslexia Assessor with AMBDA accreditation and a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC).

How do I book an assessment?

If you would like to go ahead, you will be directed to several forms which need to be filled in prior to booking an assessment. These are essential for gathering background information, because a dyslexia assessment triangulates background information, observations on the day of the assessment, and of course the assessment data, to allow the assessor to make the correct diagnostic decision.

Please note, your child must be 8 years old or over before having a dyslexia assessment.
